Asian Games 2026: India Take Early Lead
The final began with both teams playing cautiously, with neither side creating a clear opening during the first 10 minutes. India then earned the first penalty corner of the match in the 11th minute. The initial attempt broke down after a mis-trap, but India were awarded a retake. Captain Harmanpreet Singh made the second opportunity count, sending a powerful strike into the Malaysian goal to put India 1-0 ahead.
Malaysia responded almost immediately. Three minutes later, Shello Silverius controlled a long aerial pass before producing a strong finish to level the score at 1-1. India gradually regained control as the second quarter progressed.

Harmanpreet came back on the scoresheet three minutes later. India was awarded another penalty corner, and this time, the skipper scored that to achieve his double, increasing India's score to 5-1.
