Real Madrid had more than three points to celebrate after beating Sevilla 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday. Kylian Mbappé supplied the moment supporters will replay, turning sharply, taking a quick touch and finishing confidently after creating space for himself. He later converted a penalty, helping Real Madrid secure a convincing result despite missing Vinícius Júnior through suspension. The performance offered a lift before a demanding week. It also showed how quickly Mbappé can change a match when given room to attack.

Real Madrid: Kylian Mbappe Makes the Difference

Real Madrid took the lead through Arda Güler, who finished a move that gave the hosts an early foothold. Kylian Mbappé then produced the standout goal, shifting away from his marker before finding the net with a composed finish. The sequence captured the French forward’s pace of thought and ability to create a chance without needing much help. Sevilla did not disappear from the contest. Manu Bueno pulled a goal back, giving the visitors hope of making the closing stages uncomfortable. Mbappé’s penalty restored Madrid’s breathing space, and a late goal from Diomande completed the 4-1 scoreline. The result reflected Madrid’s attacking threat, though the concession will give Mourinho details to review.

Real Madrid look towards Europe

The win matters beyond the league table. Football rewards consistency, not one afternoon. Real Madrid need to turn individual quality into reliable team performances, especially with the Champions League campaign continuing this week. Their next European test against RB Leipzig offers another chance to build rhythm against strong opposition. Football leaves little time to enjoy one result before attention shifts to the next. Kylian Mbappé’s contribution will dominate conversation, but the wider performance also matters. Güler helped set the tone, and the team continued to push after Sevilla threatened a comeback. Madrid have often relied on decisive moments from their leading attackers; the challenge is to make those moments part of a balanced display rather than a substitute for control.

Real Madrid: A timely boost, not a finished job

For Kylian Mbappe, scoring twice should bring confidence after recent scrutiny around the team’s performances and his role alongside Vinícius. Their partnership remains an important question for Mourinho, with both forwards most comfortable attacking from the left channel. Vinícius’s absence meant Mbappé had more space to lead the attack, and he used it effectively. Still, one strong afternoon does not settle every concern. Madrid will be judged on whether they can carry this sharpness into tougher fixtures and defend with the same purpose they show going forward. The Champions League demands focus across every phase, not just brilliance.

For supporters, the best part was simple: Mbappé made the difficult look natural, and Madrid turned that quality into a result. Sevilla were beaten by three goals, but the next test arrives quickly. Football rarely allows a team to stand still, and Madrid must show Sunday’s performance can become a habit. The Champions League and Football will offer a clearer measure of that progress before their Champions League match on Wednesday.
