India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series after beating West Indies by 14 runs in the third match at Holkar Stadium, Indore, on Sunday. The India vs West Indies contest saw Abhishek Sharma score 69 off 30 balls, helping the hosts post 223 before being bowled out in the final over. West Indies responded with 209 for seven, but Arshdeep Singh’s three wickets helped India defend the target after the visitors threatened to make the chase competitive. The IND Vs WI result puts India ahead with two matches remaining, following West Indies’ win in Ranchi that levelled the series at 1-1.

India Vs West Indies: Abhishek Sharma leads India’s scoring
West Indies captain Shai Hope won the toss and chose to field, but India made quick progress in the powerplay in the IND Vs WI match. Sanju Samson fell for three, yet Abhishek and Ishan Kishan kept the scoring rate high. Abhishek struck six fours and five sixes in his 69 from 30 deliveries, while Kishan added 37 off 18 balls. Their attacking partnership helped India reach 115 for one before Kishan was stumped off Roston Chase.
Chase then removed Shreyas Iyer for one and finished with two wickets for 38 runs. Abhishek’s dismissal at 124 left India needing another substantial contribution from the middle order. Tilak Varma scored 28 from 16 balls, and Nitish Kumar Reddy made 21. However, wickets fell regularly in the second half of the innings, including run-outs for Tilak and Axar Patel, who scored 20. India were all out for 223 from 20 overs, leaving West Indies a target of 224.
IND Vs WI: Arshdeep Singh makes the difference
West Indies needed a fast start but lost Hope early, giving India an opening. Kamil Pooran made 42 from 27 balls, and Shimron Hetmyer scored 43 off 26, keeping the chase alive through the middle overs. Arshdeep’s spell proved important at the key stage. He finished with three for 44, including the wicket of Hope, and struck again as West Indies tried to lift the scoring rate late in the innings. Naman Dhir also contributed two wickets for 39 runs, breaking up the visitors’ recovery.
India vs West Indies: Series situation
The IND Vs WI victory gives India a chance to build momentum, but their bowling will remain an area to watch. The side had enough runs to defend in Indore, yet West Indies reached 209 and kept the contest alive until the final overs. India’s batting once again produced a high total, though the collapse after Abhishek’s wicket prevented them from pushing beyond 230.

West Indies will look to respond in the fourth T20I and draw level again. Their top order showed it could score quickly, but the side could not sustain the required pace against India’s attack. Considering India, the challenge is to turn this lead into a series win rather than allow another shift in momentum. The fourth match now carries added importance for both teams, with India one win away from taking a decisive advantage and West Indies needing a result to keep the series evenly poised.
